West Virginia and LSU have agreed to a two-year football series beginning in 2010, officials from both schools announced on Thursday.
The first game will be held on Sept. 25, 2010, in Baton Rouge, with LSU scheduled to visit Morgantown on Sept. 24, 2011. The two schools have never met in football.
"We are pleased to add this exciting high-caliber football program to our schedule," West Virginia athletic director Ed Pastilong said in a statement released by the school. "This will be a great series and will give both fan bases an opportunity to see two of the best college football atmospheres in the nation."
LSU has not played a non-conference game on the East Coast since facing Virginia Tech in 2002.
"Philosophically, this game falls right in line with what we are trying to do with our schedule and that's to play one non-conference game each year against a team from a BCS league," Tigers athletic director Joe Alleva said. "We think this will be a great matchup that will benefit both universities."
