NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops says running back Brennan Clay was responsive and smiling when he was carted off of Owen Field following an injury in Saturday's 47-17 win against Florida State.
Stoops says X-rays taken at the stadium were negative, but Clay was taken to the hospital because doctors "wanted to make sure they're not missing anything."
Clay caught a 6-yard pass for a first down midway through the fourth quarter when he was hit by Seminoles safety Nick Moody. Clay lay on the ground for several minutes while medical personnel tended to him, then gestured with his right arm as he was lifted onto a cart on a stretcher.
Stoops says Clay "was moving everything, but they have to be sure."
Clay, a freshman, was playing in his second college game.
