ELON, N.C. -- Dane Romero scored three touchdowns and Wofford scored on four of its first five possessions en route to a 55-20 victory over Elon on Saturday.
Romero scored two first-quarter touchdowns as the Terriers (6-1, 4-0 Southern Conference) took a 34-13 halftime lead on the way to handing Elon (7-2, 5-1) its first conference loss.
Romero finished with 87 rushing yards and three touchdowns, also scoring on a 1-yard run in the third quarter.
Widmyer also was 11 of 17 for 143 yards and a 59-yard touchdown pass to Andy Strickland, who had 101 yards on six catches.
