Arizona State has confirmed offensive coordinator Billy Napier has left the program. There are several reports that Napier, who spent one season at ASU, has will become the head coach at Louisiana-Lafayette. “I wish Bill nothing but the best in his coaching career," ASU coach Herm Edwards said in a statement. "I can assure all Sun Devil fans that I am working diligently on hiring a coaching staff that will fit what we are trying to accomplish at ASU, led by incredible senior quarterback Manny Wilkins. Assistant Head Coach and Running Backs Coach John Simon and Co-Offensive Coordinator and Wide Receivers Coach Rob Likens will be a part of my staff going forward."

Pitt offensive tackle Brian O'Neill has decided to leave school to enter the NFL Draft, joining Quadree Henderson and Jordan Whitehead in declaring early. O'Neill won All-ACC honors and the Piesman Trophy, too, during his time with the Panthers.

During Heisman weekend, Baker Mayfield said the individual he most couldn't believe he was getting to hang out with was former Georgia great Herschel Walker. "He looks like he could still play. A once-in-a-century-type-of athlete." And on Walker having attended OU's CFP opponent? "That's OK. That's Herschel Walker."

West Virginia junior quarterback Will Grier announced that he will return for his senior season in 2018. Grier passed for 3,490 yards and 34 touchdowns this season and was the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year.

Washington State defensive coordinator Alex Grinch is very much in demand and could be on the move after the Cougars' bowl game. While he's been mentioned for SEC openings, Grinch is an Ohio native who may end up back in the Midwest. It's unlikely WSU, which I've heard is reducing its football spending, could match some of the offers Grinch will receive.

Lincoln Riley on RB Rodney Anderson, who was accused of sexual assault this month: "He's still fully on the team." The Cleveland County District Attorney has scheduled a press conference "regarding the investigation into the allegations" for 2 p.m. Central on Thursday.

Scott Frost adds the Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year Award to his collection of hardware. The new Nebraska coach was also honored as the Home Depot Coach of the Year for his work in 2017 at UCF. Frost is the first coach from a non-Power 5 program to win the Robinson award since Fisher DeBerry of Air Force in 1985. Other finalists included Bill Clark of UAB, Lane Kiffin of FAU, Jeff Monken of Army, Lincoln Riley of Oklahoma, Kirby Smart of Georgia, Dabo Swinney of Clemson and Jeff Tedford of Fresno State.

Georgia linebacker Natrez Patrick's attorney, William Healan III, told ESPN that officers found a marijuana leaf smaller than a penny in the passenger's seat of the car that Jayson Stanley was driving. Stanley claimed ownership of the marijuana on the night of the arrest and again in court on Thursday morning.

The district attorney's office in Winder, Georgia, has dismissed misdemeanor marijuana charges against Georgia linebacker Natrez Patrick, who was one of two UGA players arrested during a traffic stop on Dec. 3. Backup receiver Jayson Stanley's DUI charge was also dismissed, and Stanley pleaded guilty to misdemeanor marijuana possession and speeding.
