Hansen makes leaping catch in end zone

Just like they drew it up: Cal QB Davis Webb found WR Chad Hansen on this beautiful 17-yard TD pass.

Interesting that Sonny Dykes still has QB Davis Webb in there with the Bears up 27. Dykes obviously wants to help aid the chemistry of the pass game (San Diego State will be a tough test for the Bears on Sept. 10). But, my guess is that his day is almost over. Will be interesting to see which quarterback gets the next nod -- Chase Forrest or Ross Bowers.

College GameDay didn't make the trip to Sydney, Australia, but the Washington St flag did!

MVP of that last Cal touchdown? RB Vic Enwere, who provided the push that got QB Davis Webb across the goal line. Webb's score extends the Bears' lead to 34-14 going into halftime.

Hansen catches his second TD of the game

Cal's Davis Webb throws his second touchdown pass to Chad Hensen, extending Cal's lead over Hawaii before halftime.

This Cal defense hasn't looked cohesive at all tonight. The Bears will have two weeks to clean things up before getting back on the field (Sept. 10 vs. SDSU), but it'll need to make major strides before hitting the second half of their schedule. Cal's final six games of the season? Oregon, USC, Washington, Washington State, Stanford and UCLA. That's a very possible 0-6 stretch for a lot of teams, let alone a team that's struggling to put a decent defense on the field.

So far, Cal QB Davis Webb looks to be a little bit off with his receivers. He still has 100 yards and one touchdown on 12-of-20 passing, but there just doesn't seem to be a ton of flow there. Should be interesting to see how this offense grows.

Hawaii RB takes off for 53-yard TD

Hawaii running back Diocemy Saint Juste cut up the Cal defense three times on his way to the end zone.

The Cal Bears lost their top six receivers from a season ago. The seventh-leading receiver a season ago was Chad Hansen. Ten minutes into the game he's the Bears' leading receiver with five catches, 43 yards and one touchdown.

Hawaii strikes back with 39-yard TD

WR Marcus Kemp makes a routine catch, makes a defender miss and makes the Cal defense pay.

Hawaii is a pretty experienced group. The Rainbow Warriors return 17 starters (nine on offense, eight on defense), which is the fifth-most nationally. Alternatively, Cal returns just 10 starters (four on offense, six on defense).

So far the Cal defense has done little to impress. The Bears have given up 99 yards and one TD at the midway point of the first quarter. Tackling hasn't been good. They've looked undisciplined. The unit will need to make major strides before Pac-12 play.

California scores first TD of season

That onside kick kind of backfired. Short field for California, and it took advantage. Khalfani Muhammad, 34-yards, touchdown. (Live on ESPN, WatchESPN)

College football season is underway in Sydney, Australia at ANZ stadium!

Cal's Khalfani Muhammad gets a key third-down conversion on the Bears' first drive and then turns in a 34-yard touchdown. Nice show of speed from the All-Pac-12 sprinter. He finished seventh in both the 100- and the 200-meter dash at the Pac-12 track championships in May.

Hawaii starts college football season with onside kick

Hawaii attempted to onside kick to begin the game vs. California, but the Bears recovered.

CFB '16 underway! With a failed onside kick. There's a lot that's funky here. But good crowd in Sydney. Plenty of Aussies follow the sport

WATCH: California vs. Hawaii

A new season starts in a new place with both teams meeting in Australia (10 p.m. ET, ESPN). The Golden Bears debut Texas Tech transfer Davis Webb under center.
