The last truly football significant Army-Navy game was 1963. Navy was ranked #2 in the nation. Army was 7-2. After President Kennedy's death the weeks of the game the contest was going to be cancelled, but Jaqueline Kennedy insisted it be played. It was postponed a week to December 7. Army was driving late with no timeouts and twice convinced officials to pause the clock and ask the raucous crowd to quiet down. Still, time ran out and Navy prevailed 21-17, dedicating the victory to Navy WWII veteran JFK.
