Another spring practice is in the books for Ohio State, and the QBs are wrapping up with some stretching. Even position coach Ryan Day was on the ground getting some work in after the session.

Wonder where Lane Kiffin gets his quick wit? His dad, Monte Kiffin, greeted me as I walked out to the FAU practice field Thursday and cracked, "It's good to see that somebody from Tennessee still talks to Lane. Sometimes, I don't blame them. We never should have left there."

Monte Kiffin, at 77 years young. Is still going strong as a defensive analyst on son Lane Kiffin's staff at FAU. Monte joked that he still calls Lane "Kid" occasionally. "I told him I wasn't coming here and going one and done again like Jacksonville. He better win," Monte quipped.

Riccardo Silva Stadium will be the new name of FIU's football stadium, sources told ESPN. The stadium naming rights deal is for five years, sources said. Silva recently donated $2.26 million for various improvements to the stadium including a new playing surface and video scoreboard. The 46-year old Silva is president and co-owner of Miami FC of the North American Soccer League, which also plays its home games in the same stadium as the Panthers. Silva Stadium will be among a handful of college football stadiums named after individuals that are still alive. Others include Oklahoma State's Boone Pickens Stadium; Kansas State's Bill Snyder Family Football Stadium and SMU's Gerald J. Ford Stadium.

Ohio State could be on the brink of setting another record in the NFL draft. With Gareon Conley now projected as a first-round pick, he and Marshon Lattimore could give the Buckeyes three cornerbacks taken in that round in the last two years, following up Eli Apple from a year ago. According to ESPN Stats and Information, no team has ever done that before. If safety Malik Hooker goes that early as well, like expected, the Buckeyes could become the first to ever have four first-round DBs in a two-year span.

Mark Richt has no plans to name a starting quarterback this spring, in large part because prized signee N'Kosi Perry of Ocala, Fla., won't be on campus until this summer. The battle to replace Brad Kaaya at Miami is wide open, but it's clear that Richt thinks the 6-4, 178-pound Perry, an ESPN 300 prospect, has a chance to come in and win the job. "All I know is he can run like the wind, can really throw it and makes a lot of plays," Richt told ESPN.com. "We'll see what he can do when he gets here."

A new $34 million football facility is coming at Miami and is scheduled to be ready for the 2018 preseason camp. One of the first things Mark Richt did upon arriving back at his alma mater as coach was pledge $1 million for the construction of the complex.

Most roads lead back to The U for those players who played in Miami's program. At the Hurricanes' pro day on Wednesday, several former players were attendance, including Vinny Testaverde, Jon Beason, Artie Burns and Duke Johnson.

Dabo Swinney had his QBs go live today with some designed run plays mixed in. It was a nice showcase for freshman Hunter Johnson, OC Tony Elliott said, showing good pocket awareness, extending some plays and knowing when to tuck the ball and take off running. "Efficient" performance by Kelly Bryant and a slow start/solid finish for Zerrick Cooper, Elliott said.

Justin Crawford commands the respect of teammates at West Virginia because of his life experience and focus on reaching his goals. Away from the field, he's driven to provide for his family. "I commend him on that part of it," WVU running back coach Tony Dews said, "because there's a lot of guys his age -- and a lot of men even older -- that are out there and may not be as responsible as he is right now."

Justin Crawford, the Big 12 offensive newcomer of the year as a running back last season at West Virginia, said "there was no decision" to make about coming back to school as a senior in 2017. The married father of two and former juco star, who has helped mentor four younger siblings since the death of their father in 2009, wants to finish his job in Morgantown. It speaks to Crawford's tireless work ethic. "When everybody else is sitting at home, relaxing, you can be getting ahead," Crawford said Tuesday in his first interview session since arriving at WVU last summer. (The school restricts first-year players from talking to the media.)
