Christian Wilkins is a defensive tackle that can play defensive end for Clemson, and Jimbo Fisher knows how rare that it is for a bigger body to move outside. Mario Edwards and Marcus Spears did it on two of Fisher's teams, but "not many guys are athletic enough to do it, and [Wilkins] does a really good job. Big body, strong, great quickness. I've been around a few of them who do it but they're very hard to find."

Oregon ranks no. 126 nationally in scoring defense. Stanford ranks no. 126 nationally in scoring offense. There are 128 total teams. There's some impressive symmetry in the fall of the Pac-12's two former kings.

Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy says WR Marcell Ateman, who's been out with a foot injury all year, began running last week. Ateman will try to start cutting this week, and might not be far away from playing.

Utah and Clemson are tied with the most wins decided by one possession this season (4) and since the start of the 2015 season (8). Going back three seasons, the Utes have 13 wins by one score, which is three more than any other team in the FBS – they are 13-5 in that span.

Ohio State DE Tyquan Lewis is "ready to get back to work" after the upset loss at Penn State. "A loss is going to stick with you," Lewis said. "It's about how you get back up. ... The main thing is that we come back, practice hard and beat Northwestern. That's the main objective."

Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze must be ready for the World Series. He used a baseball analogy today when referencing his team's recent struggles. "We can't afford to throw 75 miles per hour on the corner of the plate and get by. We have to throw 96 miles per hour on every single play to be able to compete and have a chance to win some of the games that we're in."

James Franklin's weekly Tuesday news conference will be moved to Wednesday this week because the Penn State coach is attending a family funeral. (His brother-in-law died of cancer last week.) Obviously been a very emotional week for the Nittany Lions' coach.

Number of Power 5 teams with 0 or 1 loss on this date: 2014 - 18 2015 - 18 2016 - 12 Could that lead to some November craziness and, perhaps, our first 2-loss or non-conference champ team in the playoff?

Bill Snyder explained today the words of encouragement he shared with Texas coach Charlie Strong after Kansas State beat Texas 24-21 on Saturday. Snyder said he likes Strong and the job that he's doing to rebuild the Longhorns. He recognizes, though, that Strong is embattled as he tries to avoid a third straight losing season. "I think college football has gotten out of hand," said Snyder, the longtime KSU coach, "and it's no longer about young people."

Wisconsin linebacker Jack Cichy is out for the season with a left shoulder injury. It's a terrible blow for the Badgers, who host No. 7 Nebraska on Saturday. Cichy was the Big Ten defensive player of the week two weeks ago.

For more context: Stanford was a bit more balanced from the shotgun last year (43% rush), but actually more predictable from under center (87% rush). And they led all Power 5 teams in points per drive with that 2015 offense. The under center number especially points to the dominance of that Stanford offensive line, which lost its three best pieces.

David Lombardi ESPN Staff Writer

Stanford ran snaps from under center 46% of the time in 2015. That's down to 35% of the time in 2016, and likely a result of a new QB and an offensive line that's worse in pass protection. Still, there is big-time predictability here, as the Cardinal have run the ball 81% of the time when under center.

David Lombardi ESPN Staff Writer

Opponents have now said they know what Stanford plays are coming multiple times, so ESPN Stats and Info looked into some numbers for me: Stanford is only passing on 19% percent of snaps they take from under center, but passing on 61% of snaps they take from the shotgun.

Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh isn't going to go off script when talking about history with Michigan State this week.

Max Olson ESPN Staff Writer

Texas coach Charlie Strong is 3-4 for the third straight season. An honest assessment from him on Monday: "We've worn that cliche out that we're so close."
