USF and UCF are the two best offenses in the American so it's no surprise there was a huge play to open the game: three plays and a 47-yard touchdown reception by Tyre McCants to give USF the early lead.

Most of the drama in Lincoln on this Black Friday is on tap for after the game — and involves the next step for Nebraska with third-year coach Mike Riley. Nebraska has lost three straight, and Iowa has dropped two in a row since its Nov. 4 defeat of Ohio State. The Huskers are out of bowl contention. The Hawkeyes are set for a second-tier postseason destination.

Down goes Miami! Unranked Pittsburgh has now won four straight games against AP top-three teams.

Heather Dinich ESPN Senior Writer

Miami isn't out of the playoff race, but its 24-14 loss to Pitt eliminated the ACC's chances of having two teams in the semifinals because the loser of the title game is now guaranteed to have two losses. The Canes must now beat Clemson and win the ACC to earn a top four spot. If undefeated No. 5 Wisconsin beats Minnesota on Saturday, it's likely the Badgers earn their first CFP top four appearance on Tuesday, assuming Miami drops out.

If Nick Fitzgerald's sideline demeanor after that gruesome ankle injury is any indication, he should handle the recovery process well. Mississippi State QB is as tough as they come at the position. He had successful surgery this morning and is expected to be ready to get back on the field in time for next season.

Pitt leads Miami 10-7 at the half, led by true freshman quarterback Kenny Pickett, who threw for 116 yards and had one rushing touchdown in the first half. Miami's offense struggled to get going early, only gaining 26 yards on its first three drives. The Hurricanes eventually put together an 80-yard drive, adding a touchdown, but still find themselves down after two quarters.

Miami's defense has forced two turnovers against Pitt. The Hurricanes are now tied with Central Michigan for the most forced turnovers for any FBS team with 29.

Even after that gruesome ankle injury, Mississippi State QB Nick Fitzgerald remains with his teammates, taking the field coming out of halftime to a loud ovation from the crowd. He tweeted this message: "I'll be back stronger and better than ever! I love all my Hailstate fam and all I want right now is for all of y'all to ring your bells as loud as you can and support this team to a huge egg bowl win! #HaiIState"
