E. Michigan player rumbles and stumbles

An Eastern Michigan defender had the chance to scoop it up and score against No. 20 Western Michigan. He scooped it up but couldn't take it all the way.

ESPN Stats and Information

Alabama has had two goal-to-go drives today, and both ended with a field goal. Coming into the game, the Crimson Tide had scored a touchdown on 18 of 21 goal-to-go drives this season.

After showing signs of life, Stanford's offense has reverted to absolute ineptitude. The Cardinal are liberally rotating quarterbacks mid-drive now. The problem there is that Keller Chryst's presence in the game automatically telegraphs a run, and an already-weak offensive line is further exposed on third-and-long.

No. 20 Broncos lead after awesome spin move

Western Michigan's Carrington Thompson catches a pass and spins around an Eastern Michigan defender before scoring a 32-yard TD. The unbeaten Broncos lead 7-0.

"It's hard," Texas quarterback Shane Buechele said, "just to see things you could have done." The Longhorns had plenty of chances today at Kansas State, losing 24-21, but the outcome was no different than in its other three road games this year. The loss puts Texas under .500 for the first time this season, an all too familiar spot in this third season under coach Charlie Strong.

West Virginia goes up two scores

QB Skyler Howard passes to Shelton Gibson for a 22-yard TD. No. 12 West Virginia leads TCU 14-0 in the first quarter.

Another FG gives Alabama the 6-0 lead over Texas A&M. Tide LT Cam Robinson, who hasn't played up to expectations early this year, has been superb keeping Aggie star DE Myles Garrett in check.

Texas A&M DE Daeshon Hall is down in pain and the trainer's are looking at him. That would be a big loss for the Aggies.

Purdue makes spectacular diving catch

Bilal Marshall goes all out for this 44-yard reception. The big play set up a game-tying TD against No. 8 Nebraska. It's 7-7 on ESPN2.

Andrea Adelson ESPN Staff Writer

Earlier this week, North Carolina coach Larry Fedora said he hoped his defense would use its performance in a win over Miami as a springboard for confidence and momentum. Through a little more than a quarter against Virginia, the D has allowed just two first downs and 63 total yards.

Alex Scarborough ESPN Staff Writer

Alabama DE Jonathan Allen just went Superman to leap over the would be blocker and sack Trevor Knight on third down. The Tide d-line is loaded with pass-rushers.

Edward Aschoff ESPN Staff Writer

How good has Alabama's new-look offense been this season? Well, Alabama entered the day having scored TDs on 18 of its 21 goal-to-go drives this season. So A&M stopping the Tide and forcing a FG on the opening drive was actually pretty impressive and important.

Syracuse has won back to back ACC games for the first time since 2013, as the Orange follow their upset of Virginia Tech by beating former Big East rival Boston College 28-20. Eric Dungey had a strong line -- 32-38 passing for 434 yards and 3 TDs, to go with 54 rushing yards -- but turned the ball over twice. Still, Amba Etta-Tawo caught 10 passes for 144 yards and a TD, giving him 6 100-yard receiving outings in 8 games this year. The Maryland graduate transfer is now 5th in school history for career 100-yard games. The Orange are 2-2 in league play heading into their bye. BC, meanwhile, remains winless in ACC play since 2014 and will head to NC State next week.

Takeaways have been at the core of West Virginia's 5-0 start, and the Mountaineers already have two today following cornerback Rasul Douglas' third interception of the season. WVU's defense has at least one takeaway in all six games and in 11 of its last 12 contests.

Armstrong Jr. gives Nebraska the lead

QB Tommy Armstrong Jr. runs for a 22-yard TD to give No. 8 Nebraska a 7-0 early lead over Purdue on ESPN2.

Kyle Bonagura ESPN Staff Writer

UCLA backup QB Mike Fafaul took all the snaps with the offense in pregame warm-ups. Josh Rosen did not take any. The Bruins do not plan to make an official announcement about who will start at quarterback, but, at this point, it would be a shock if it is not Fafaul.

TCU fumbles opening kickoff

Nana Kyeremeh recovers it to give West Virginia a short field. The No. 12 Mountaineers took advantage and took a 7-0 lead.

Alex Scarborough ESPN Staff Writer

Alabama comes up with a field goal to take the early 3-0 lead over Texas A&M. Credit the Aggie defense for making the stand after a rocky start to that drive.

ESPN Stats and Information

Kansas State's win was its fifth in a row at home against Texas. That is tied for the all-time longest home winning streak for any team against Texas (Texas A&M from 1985 to 1993).

Watch: TCU at No. 12 West Virginia

West Virginia seeks its first 6-0 start since 2006 against a dangerous TCU squad that is ranked 31st, according to ESPN's FPI. TCU has scored at least 20 points in 36 straight games, which is second to only Oregon (38) in the FBS. Live on ABC/ESPN2/WatchESPN

Colorado's offense has woken up. It took the Buffs only 9 plays to march 73 yards for the go-ahead score. Colorado is taking advantage of Stanford's biggest defensive weakness -- linebackers -- on rushes to the edge.

Watch: Purdue at No. 8 Nebraska

Nebraska is a big favorite against struggling Purdue, which fired head coach Darrell Hazzell this week. The Cornhuskers are 6-0 for the first time since the 2001 season, when they made the BCS title game. Live on ABC/ESPN2/WatchESPN

Max Olson ESPN Staff Writer

Oklahoma State pulled away in the second half for a solid 44-20 win over Kansas. Some big-time takeaways from the Pokes' defense helped them finish that road win with a 20-0 scoring run. Big test vs. West Virginia up next.

ESPN Stats and Information

Wisconsin has now won four in a row at Iowa for the first time since a run from 1907 to 1928.
