Texas Rep. Roland Gutierrez announced today he has asked Governor Greg Abbott for a $5 million Texas Ranger investigation into Baylor's sexual assault scandal and "systematic cover-ups" by the university. Gutierrez is also requesting a "sizable reduction" of the Tuition Equalization Grants the school receives -- more than $10.4 million last year -- until a thorough investigation is complete and the university is held accountable.

Duke QB Thomas Sirk (miss '16 w/injury) has opted to be a graduate transfer and will be eligible this year wherever he lands.

With QB Thomas Sirk transferring, there's no doubt Duke's offense is Daniel Jones'. By season's end last year he looked to be the best fit for Duke moving forward. The former walk-on rebounded from a shaky start to throw for 9 TDs and 1 INT over his last six games. Coaches gush about his growth, and he'll be one of the ACC's better QBs this fall as a RS sophomore.

If Iowa State isn't the most unlikely Power 5 landing spot for a former Elite 11 QB out of South Carolina who signed with Georgia as a top-100 recruit, it's close. But Jacob Park opens spring practice with the Cyclones tomorrow as a clear-cut No. 1 QB after unseating starter Joel Lanning last season. His connection with Iowa State's Matt Campbell, forged quickly after the coach's 2015 hire, led Park to Ames from junior college. "You go through an experience like he had at Georgia," Campbell said, "it's not easy to bounce back." But Park has bounced back, outplaying some of the top QBs nationally in the final month of last season to give Iowa State hope for big improvement in 2017.

Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson won the Heisman Trophy, but after Deshaun Watson's performance in the College Football Playoff, some wondered whether voters had "Heisman remorse." Louisville coach Bobby Petrino weighed in on that topic, telling ESPN.com Friday, "I think all you have to do is look at his numbers. What Lamar did probably won't be matched for a long, long time. It was one of the most amazing seasons anyone has ever put together." Jackson threw for 3,543 yards, ran for 1,571 yards and scored 51 total touchdowns. Watson finished second in the December voting.
