North Carolina has had to deal with its fair share of injuries on the offensive line, including last week against Virginia. Coach Larry Fedora said this about their performance last week, "We got the job done. I thought the kids overcame the adversity that was created by that situation. What you're lacking is constituency and continuity and those things always make it hard on you. Hopefully we'll be healthier as we go the rest of the season."

Virginia coach Bronco Mendenhall gave a nod to Duke's approach against Louisville, when the Blue Devils decided to milk the play clock as much as possible to keep the ball away from Lamar Jackson. It nearly worked. "That gives us the best chance, a similar approach," Mendenhall said.

Virginia has provided a tough challenge to Louisville in the two years they've played in the ACC, winning in 2014 and losing by a touchdown in 2015. Though coach Bronco Mendenhall wasn't a part of those games, he's heard his players discuss the success they've had against the Cards going into their game Saturday. "I was not a part of it, but to the players it's real," Mendenhall said. "I will do everything I can to build the momentum off that."

"Virginia Tech can be an avalanche," Kelly said. "Bud Foster does a great job of doing that against everybody. He's been doing that for 30 years."

But he said Tuesday that their typical contact is cut off until after their teams meet on Nov. 5. "I talk to him two or three times a week. But we're going to take a hiatus these next two weeks," Orgeron laughed. "Now I know he's going to want to talk to me, but I ain't answering back man. I know how he is."

But back then, Stanford's run game was still performing decently well. This time, they've been held to under 3 YPC in three of four games.
