Source: Carter to start at QB for Texas Tech

Texas Tech is expected to give McLane Carter his first career start at quarterback Friday at Texas, a source confirmed to ESPN. Carter will replace Nic Shimonek, who has been the team's starter all season.

FPI: TCU given edge over Texas Tech
