Youngstown DE Derek Rivers, the Patriots' initial third-round pick (No. 83), just held a conference call with reporters and one of the biggest takeaways was how he said the Senior Bowl was a great experience for him because he comes from a smaller school. The Patriots have selected Youngstown defensive end Derek Rivers with their initial draft choice, No. 83 overall (third round). Rivers set a school record with 41 sacks, totaled 35 repetitions on the bench press, and his 2.53-second 20-yard split was among the best at the position and an indication of his burst. He was a pre-draft visitor to the Patriots at Gillette Stadium.
