SEC East clash has major implications
The playoff chase heats up with three top-10 matchups in Week 5. However, No. 11 Tennessee at No. 25 Georgia is pretty big, too. The 4-0 Vols are the team to beat in the SEC East, but the one-loss Dawgs could really open up the division with a win. GameDay Kickoff
After a wild Week 4, things settle down a bit in the SEC this weekend. Our conference reporters make their picks for each Week 5 game in the league.
There were some solid contenders, but the seesaw Week 3 meeting of Alabama and Ole Miss gets the most votes for the SEC's top game of September.
Steele: Volunteers a road favorite
Phil Steele sees Tennessee covering the -3 spread against Georgia on the road. Why? The Volunteers are coming off a confidence-boosting win over Florida while Georgia has to regroup. Week 5 best bets (Insider)
Nick Chubb falls in updated #CFBrank

Georgia coach Kirby Smart says that they still plan to be as balanced as possible against Tennessee even if RB Nick Chubb (ankle) can't play this weekend. Said that even with younger, less experienced backs to help Sony Michel (106 yards on 23 attempts this season), he thinks that he has "capable backs" to put in to help the running game go. Right now freshmen Brian Herrien and Elijah Holyfield have combined for just 211 yards, but Herrien is second on the team with 184 yards and is averaging 7.1 yards per carry.
Will Ed Orgeron right the LSU ship against Missouri? Will Tennessee have a letdown at Georgia? Some storylines to watch in the SEC in Week 5.
Alabama is still Alabama. But the Vols made a statement against Florida, announcing they'll be contenders in the SEC East.
ESPN Stats and Information
Tennessee heads to Georgia this week for another battle for positioning atop the SEC East. Each of the last five meetings between these schools have been decided by a touchdown or less. The Volunteers have not won in Athens since 2006.
Georgia is down but not out
Georgia's first loss of the season to then-No. 23 Ole Miss may have been ugly, but the Bulldogs aren't totally out of the playoff race yet. Eliminator
Robert Beal, the nation's No. 1 defensive end, committed to Georgia in July, but he might not be a lock as he plans to take all five official visits.
LSU has turned to SEC veteran Ed Orgeron after firing head coach Les Miles, and the conference races are already beginning to take shape.
The three remaining unbeatens (Alabama, Tennessee, Texas A&M) look like the class of the conference.
After four games, who's the nation's best player? OK, after Lamar Jackson, who fills out the rest of the top 50 guys in the country? Our experts have the answers.
Alabama has that playoff look to it, but inconsistency has been the story for most of the rest of the SEC, which makes the bowl forecast murky.
