Connecticut enters NCAA tournament as No. 1 women's team

The top seven teams -- led by No. 1 Connecticut -- remained unchanged in the latest ESPN/USA Today women's basketball poll released Monday.

The Huskies, who won the Big East tournament last week, picked up 30 of the 31 first-place votes and 773 total points. That outdistanced No. 2 North Carolina, the ACC champ which is 30-2 and earned the other first-place vote.

Tennessee (30-2), Stanford (30-3) and LSU (27-5) rounded out the top five, followed by Maryland (30-3) and Rutgers (24-6).

Baylor, which lost in the Big 12 tournament, fell from eighth to No. 11, allowing California (26-6) to move to No. 8, Texas A&M (26-7) to move to No. 9 and Duke (23-9) to climb to No. 10.

No teams moved into or out of the top 25.
