Huskies retain top spot in coaches' poll

Connecticut, Stanford and Baylor remained the top three teams in the ESPN/USA Today women's basketball coaches' poll released Tuesday, but Duke hopped over Xavier and into the No. 4 spot.

The Huskies (8-0), who have won 86 consecutive games, received all 31 first-place votes, as they have throughout the season. The Huskies are on track to tie the UCLA men's all-time Division I winning streak of 88 games on Dec. 19 against Ohio State in New York, and could break it two days later in Hartford against Florida State.

Stanford (5-0) and Baylor (9-1) remained second and third. Baylor's lone loss of the season came against UConn; Stanford meets the Huskies Dec. 30 in Palo Alto, Calif.

Duke (9-0), which knocked off previously unbeaten Texas A&M on Monday, climbed over Xavier (8-0). Duke and Xavier are set to square off Dec. 21.

The remainder of the top 10 includes Ohio State (7-0), Tennessee (8-1), Texas A&M (6-1), West Virginia (8-0) and UCLA (7-0).
