Unfortunately, living the life of a professional basketball player has come to an end for my teammates and me. For about a month, we had the luxury of just playing basketball. No studying, no group meetings, and most importantly, no 8 a.m. classes.
Personally, I enjoyed that time because I was able to get in the gym and get some extra work in on my game without worrying about studying. We even got a chance to have social lives; you know, catch up on a movie or even go to a party.
As a team, we definitely used the break to get focused and improve. Coach Mittie turned up the intensity of our individual workouts and sometimes we had two-a-days. As a result, we are 4-0 in conference and really starting to play well.
Now, we're back in school and it's goodbye WNBA player, hello student-athlete. It's a tough job, but someone has to do it.
Today, I realized that this is the first day of my last spring semester. It's hard to believe that I am a senior. Time really flies when you're having fun. I'm trying to get Mittie and the NCAA to give me just one more year. I'm sure that's probably not going to happen, but if coach Mittie or the NCAA is reading this, just give it some thought, that's all I ask .. :)
Basketball at TCU for the men's and women's teams was unbelievable this weekend. Our boys are coming off one of their biggest road victories, defeating Memphis 61-59 on Saturday. Aaron Curtis' dunk versus Tulane made ESPN's No. 1 Play of the Day, and Corey Santee's buzzer-beater at Memphis made ESPN'S No. 5 Play of the Day. I am just as excited about their success as I am ours.
We ended the weekend 2-0, and as you might already know, I recorded the first-ever triple-double in TCU women's basketball history. I'm sure everybody is also anxious to know how I blocked 16 shots in one game. When you find out, please let me know. I really can't believe it happened. I think my hands were possessed in the game or something. It was really exciting and the fans were really into every moment of it.
Up next for the Lady Frogs are two very exciting games at Louisville and Cincinnati. Our goal is to stay undefeated in conference play, and it will be tough, so we will have to play our best b-ball.
Until then, thanks for taking the time to read my journal and GO FROGS!
