A bit earlier Dawn Staley was asked what it's going to take for a woman to become a head coach in men's game or NBA. Here is her response: It's all about opportunity. Basketball is basketball. It doesn't have a gender. it has a mind. it has an approach. It has a willingness, and given the opportunity women can excel in this game. As you can see, Becky Hammon is doing a great job. You need more people like coach [Gregg] Popovich to give people the opportunity to learn and to grow, to embrace it. I don't think he sees gender; he sees someone who has a great basketball mind, who is tireless. Once you're given that opportunity, you see great things come out of it.

Staley said that in order to beat a team like UCONN, should they get there, you have to be doing preparation all season long, not just right before playing the Huskies. Beating Connecticut is an on-going process.
