In Lexington for the second year in a row in Sweet 16, No. 2 Stanford had an interesting time getting here. Team first planned to return to campus (it is finals week in Palo Alto ) after Monday's win at Kansas State, but then plane had mechanical issues before takeoff. So Stanford instead stayed put and then came directly to Kentucky. Coach Tara VanDerveer: "I'm not really excited about getting on an airplane with mechanical problems."

Teams are setting up shop in Lexington for the women's basketball regional. One big absence will be No. 1 Notre Dame's Brianna Turner. Coach Muffet McGraw on playing without her injured star: "I think it's most difficult mentally, for sure. I think she's everybody's kind of favorite player. They like her so much and respect her so much. So it was a lot more than just about the game. ... We have really good guards, and I think we can run a lot of the same stuff. We'll just have to score in different ways. We probably won't throw as many lobs."
