Neither Frank Ntilikina nor Jeff Hornacek are concerned about the knee pain Ntilikina has dealt with occasionally in recent weeks. Ntilikina says he can play through the pain. Hornacek said it isn't anything to be worried about.

Jets CEO Christopher Johnson on David Harris: "David Harris operated at the highest standard for both performance and professionalism and is as fine a person as you will ever meet. His endurance, intelligence and reliability were his trademarks and he was always there for his teammates. With all of those qualities, what stands out most to me is the humility and selflessness with which he approached each day. I wish him and his family the absolute best that life has to offer and they will always have a home with the New York Jets."

Anytime people are hurting, and we know the community is hurting right now, baseball can sometimes play a part with the healing process. And so to honor them and try and have a little bit of thoughts and prayers and our thoughts are with people who are hurting, it's something small that it was cool to be a part of."

The Giants were awarded a fourth-round compensatory pick (No. 135 overall). This is the result of, mostly, losing defensive tackle Johnathan Hankins in free agency last offseason.

Aaron Boone on getting his first win as a manager: "It's always good to shake hands (after a game)." He said he was pleased with how Yankees controlled the strike zone with patient at bats offensively in the 3-1 win over Detroit.

Giancarlo Stanton spoke in the Yankees' clubhouse after he was replaced in the game. Asked how this spring training opener compared to ones he had with the Marlins, he said: "Uh ... this is better?" He continued by saying it's more about the anticipation for what the Yankees can do due to the buzz around this camp.

And on the first day of the expanded netting being used at a Home Yankees spring training game, Estevan Florial's bat just slipped out his grasp and sailed OVER the netting. Thankfully, the aware fan had good hands and caught it.

Giancarlo Stanton's day is done in the top of the fifth. The new Yankee went 0-for-1 with a walk in two plate appearances. He saw 10 pitches, and had no action in the field.
