Via ESPN Stats & Information, this is what has happened when Sonny Gray has pitched to Gary Sánchez and Austin Romine. Asked if Gray liked pitching to Romine because Romine seemed more proficient at catching balls in the dirt, Yankees manager Aaron Boone today said: "No. I don't think it's that. When he came over here they kind of connected and got on the same page. I think it's a comfort level and hopefully this is one thing that'll be the start of Sonny starting to turn the corner, because obviously he's important."
Baltimore Orioles infielder Tim Beckham is considering surgery on the groin injury that sent him to the 10-day disabled list Wednesday.

According to the Yankees, Giancarlo Stanton and Masahiro Tanaka were the beneficiaries of a couple of calls MLB just changed. Stanton's reach-on-error in April 12's loss at Boston was changed to an infield single. It means his average will rise from .213 to .225 entering Wednesday's game. Tanaka also will lose a hit and earned run that came in the April 17 loss to Miami. Cameron Maybin originally had reached on a hit plus an error. The hit has been removed, and the play changed to a two-base error.

Jets daily draft nugget: Does hand size matter for a quarterback? A lot of NFL people think it does, especially in cold-weather cities. GM Mike Maccagnan declined this week to say how much value he puts on hand size, saying he doesn't want to tip his intentions. If he picks Baker Mayfield (9 1/4 inches), we'll know it doesn't matter much in his opinion. Sam Darnold (9 3/8), Josh Rosen (9 7/8) and Josh Allen (10 1/8) have bigger hands than Mayfield.
Accuracy? Check. Playmaking ability? Check. Attitude? Affirmative. Baker Mayfield has the talent and the "it" factor to put the Jets back on the map.
There's every reason to believe that Barkley will be an elite running back. But drafting a quarterback is the better bet for New York. Here's why.
The third man in New York's big-bopping trio delivered two homers to power a fourth straight win for a Yankees team on the rise.
Jay Bruce hit a tiebreaking homer in the 10th inning, Yoenis Cespedes launched a majestic, three-run shot and the New York Mets rallied to beat the St. Louis Cardinals 6-5 on Tuesday night.
Seven times this season a Yankees player has had a multi-homer game (Gary Sanchez had two HRs tonight after having another two-homer game earlier this season). That's the most individual multi-homer games in major league history for a team through its first 22 games.
Didi Gregorius drew some high praise from CC Sabathia after tonight's win:"What he's done in taking over for arguably one of the best shortstops to ever play — and we don't even bring him (Derek Jeter) up anymore because Didi has been that good — you've got to give him credit in what he's been able to do taking over in that spot. He's the anchor of our team."
James Johnson receives a technical and a personal foul for his takedown of Marco Belinelli. An 8-point Sixers lead balloons to 11.
Didi Gregorius had another big game at Yankee Stadium with a two-run homer and three RBI, and Gary Sanchez homered twice to help CC Sabathia and New York romp past the Minnesota Twins yet again, 8-3 on Tuesday night.
