Lucas Duda seemed a good fit for the Mariners, Red Sox or Yankees, but instead goes to the Rays for minor league reliever Drew Smith. With Corey Dickerson playing more in the outfield of late, Duda will slide into the DH role that has been occupied by the struggling Brad Miller. The Rays are third in the AL in home runs and now added another lefty masher. Good move.

Lucas Duda is homering at the same rate as Michael Conforto and walking at the same rate as Yonder Alonso. And from the safety of the DH slot, he won't have to try throwing home. A nice stretch addition for the Rays.

Can OBJ become a deep threat again?

Odell Beckham Jr.'s 10 touchdown catches last season averaged a throw distance of just 7.7 yards, well below his career average. Three of those 10, however, went for at least 61 yards, with Beckham tallying at least 48 yards after catch on each.

The Jets claimed former Saints RB Marcus Murphy on waivers. Like Lucky Whitehead, whom they picked up Wednesday, Murphy returns punts and kickoffs. There will be a bunch of these moves in the coming weeks, as the Jets churn the bottom of the roster. To make room for Murphy, they waived RB Brandon Wilds.

Giants GM says QB Manning on a 'pitch count'

New York Giants general manager Jerry Reese says quarterback Eli Manning, who has never missed a start in his career, will be on a "pitch count" during camp and the season in an effort to keep him fresh.

Jerry Reese clarifies that JT Thomas is still taking a physical. Giants need to make a decision with him, he missed most of last year and this spring with knee injury.
