The Jets locked up their No. 1 free agent priority, signing RG Brian Winters to a four-year contract extension. Winters, 25, finished the season on injured reserve with a torn rotator cuff. He has started 41 games in four seasons and would've been a coveted free agent.

Carmelo Anthony said he hadn't heard from Phil Jackson over the Charley Rosen article that stated that he had outworn his 'usefulness' in New York. Anthony also said there's no issue between he and management: "If they want to come talk to me, I'm around them guys every day. I don't want this to be kind of going back and forth between me and the front office, management, because it's really nothing, I responded to an article that I read. That was that. There's nothing between myself and management at this point."

Giants NFL's most improved defense

All that spending in free agency last offseason paid off. By Football Outsiders' metrics, the Giants' defense went from being one of the league's worst in 2015 to one of the best this season. Most improved units (Insider)

Carmelo Anthony was asked about how "much" he wants to remain a Knick and about his loyalty to the franchise: "I think I've proven that. I don't have to speak on that. I think I've proven that over the years day in and day out." Anthony says he's shown that by being a professional every day in his approach and handling the duties of being the public face of the franchise every day. He's handled that well, in my opinion.

ESPN Stats and Information

The Knicks missed three go-ahead shots in the final 10 seconds today. It's the second time this season they've missed three go-ahead shots in the final 10 seconds. The Knicks are the only team to miss three go-ahead shots in the final 10 seconds of a single fourth quarter or overtime period this season.

Nets still in Power Rankings cellar

Jeremy Lin was forced to sit out on Jeremy Lin Bobblehead Night at Barclays Center, which sort of says it all about this Nets season. Marc Stein likes what he has seen from Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and Caris LeVert. Week 13 Power Rankings

Brandon Jennings seems frustrated by the lineup/rotation changes: 'When you come in here you don't really know what's going to happen. So it's kind of no consistency.' Jeff Hornacek switched his starting lineup today, swapping Ron Baker in and Courtney Lee out.

The time for JPP to cash in has arrived

Jason Pierre-Paul settled for a one-year deal last offseason because of uncertainty over his hand after his fireworks accident. Now that he proved he can still play, a big deal should follow. Due for paydays (Insider)

Knicks take massive stumble in rankings

New York drops eight spots to No. 26 this week. The Knicks' defensive numbers are pretty ugly. Not to mention, they're two points per 100 possession worse with Derrick Rose on the floor. Week 13 Power Rankings

The Islanders won 4-0 against the Bruins. It's the first time in franchise history the Islanders have shut out the Bruins in Boston. Today was the 81st regular-season game between the teams in Boston.

Hawks 108, Knicks 107: Interesting to see Derrick Rose take the final shot for the Knicks. Rose drove to the lane and was rejected by Paul Millsap. Carmelo Anthony got a good look off of a rebound but missed it. The bottom line? The Knicks have lost 11 of 13 and are six games below .500. This is not what Phil Jackson expected.

Ian Begley ESPN Staff Writer

You can't really fault the Knicks much for how the last two possessions played out. They get a runner from Derrick Rose on one end and play strong defense for 23 seconds on the other end, but Dennis Schroeder knocks down a three.
