Browns could finally snap winless skid

FPI dubs Sunday's tilt with the Jets the Browns' best chance of winning a game this year, but still favors New York. Our Browns reporter, though, thinks this is the week Cleveland finally wins. Week 8 predictions (Insider)

DE Owa Odighizuwa fined $12,154 for his part in Sunday's TD celebration vs Rams. He pretended to take a picture of Landon Collins after the score.

Final Jets-Browns injury report: My sense is that DE Mo Wilkerson and LT Ryan Clady will play. RT Breno Giacomini could be activated from the PUP list, which would allow Ben Ijalana to back up Clady. C Wes Johnson will start for Nick Mangold. CB Marcus Williams probably will start for Buster Skrine, but it's unclear who will be the slot corner. LB Julian Stanford is expected to start for Darron Lee. Bottom line: the Jets are pretty banged up.

JPP still a top priority for 2017

Despite his dip in production this season, John Clayton still ranks Jason Pierre-Paul one of the top defensive ends available for free agency in 2017. Best projected free agents (Insider)

The Jets are listing C Nick Mangold (ankle), CB Buster Skrine (knee), TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins (ankle) and RT Brent Qvale (neck) as doubtful, which means they're as good as out. This would be Mangold's fifth missed game in 11 years. DE Mo Wilkerson (ankle) and RT Ryan Clady (shoulder) are questionable. LB Darron Lee (ankle) and LB Bruce Carter (quad) are officially out. RT Breno Giacomini (back) could be activated, per Todd Bowles. Bowles refused to name his No. 2 QB.

The Knicks say that Ron Baker (sprained ankle) is questionable for Saturday's home opener. Sasha Vujacic is the third point guard at the moment, with Baker behind him.

Throw, don't run, on the Jets' D

Per ESPN Stats & Info, the Jets have allowed eight completions on passes traveling at least 30 yards in the air, tied for most in the NFL with Cleveland. That includes a league-high five touchdowns allowed on such throws. Meanwhile, the Jets are the NFL's second-best in rushing yards allowed (74.1), and their six rushing yards allowed to the Ravens last weekend was a franchise record.

Fitzpatrick can't finish drives

Fitzmagic gets some second life this week, but 2016 hasn't been kind to the veteran QB so far. His 11 interceptions lead the NFL, and eight of those have come in the fourth quarter. Per ESPN Stats & Info, his four red zone interceptions lead the league, too.

Interesting night for an ex-Knick: Tim Hardaway Jr., who was traded for Jerian Grant, has 21 points in 23 minutes for Atlanta tonight. Grant was subsequently dealt to Chicago in the Derrick Rose trade. They say it's unfair to judge moves in a vacuum but if Hardaway continues to play well, history may not look kindly on that Phil Jackson trade.

Jets DE Mo Wilkerson admitted his ankle injury, which sidelined him last week, is related to the surgery he needed last January to repair a fractured fibula. "It's a tendon by the ankle that's bothering me," he said. He returned to practice today, but his status is up in the air. He has only 1.5 sacks in six games. "It's not a one-man show, it's a team sport and we have a lot of games left to improve," he said.
