The Jets have released PK Nick Folk and RT Breno Giacomini, creating $7.5 million in much-needed cap room. Folk, who joined the Jets in 2010, is the second-leading scorer in franchise history (729 points), behind only Pat Leahy. "It's a sad day, but that's the business side of things," Folk said. "I had a great seven years here. I think the only thing that would've topped it off would'e been a couple of Super Bowl wins." Giacomini, who played in only five games last season, is recovering from recent back surgery.

The Nets are waiving Marcus Thornton. The shooting guard was acquired in the trade with Washington that sent Bojan Bogdanovic and Chris McCullough for Andrew Nicholson and a 2017 protected first-round pick.

One source close to the Derrick Rose talks says some members of the Knicks organization were willing to come off of their demand of a second asset in a potential Rose for Ricky Rubio offer. But the Knicks' willingness to lower the demands came too late for a deal to come together, the source said. In general, team president Phil Jackson had been looking for picks in talks with opposing teams.

The Knicks had offers on the table for several players but have stood pat at the trade deadline. Minnesota ultimately would not agree to what the Knicks were offering in a potential Derrick Rose trade. The Knicks were looking for an addition asset in addition for Rubio and Minnesota was unwilling to acquiesce. The Knicks also talked to the Clippers about a deal for Courtney Lee but nothing materialized.

A half hour ago, Minnesota had been unwilling to give up an additional asset in its talks with the Knicks on a Derrick Rose trade, according to a source. NYK wanted a second piece. Will the Knicks or Wolves come off of their demands?

The Brooklyn Nets are in advanced discussions to acquire K.J. McDaniels from the Houston Rockets, ESPN has learned

One holdup in the Minnesota talks for Derrick Rose has been that the Knicks hadn't budged on their insistence that a second piece be added to the deal in a return for Ricky Rubio - a player or a draft pick, according to a source. With one hour to go, it will be interesting to see if the Knicks lower their demands or if Minnesota acquiesces.

Knicks and Clippers have had recent talks about shooting guard Courtney Lee, sources tell Ramona Shelburne and I. The Knicks have been seeking draft picks back in most conversations they've had with teams, per sources. The Clippers don't have any immediate first-round picks to offer to New York may have to settle for a player or get a third team involved to push a deal through.

The Knicks and Timberwolves remain engaged in trade talks toward a deal headlined by Derrick Rose and Ricky Rubio, league sources tell ESPN.

Charles Oakley plans to attend tonight's Knicks-Cavs game in Cleveland, he confirmed to ESPN's Jeff Goodman. It's worth noting that Oakley, who has been feuding with Knicks owner James Dolan, is close with Cavs star LeBron James.

Derrick Rose was asked if he hopes nothing happens at the trade deadline. He's well aware that the Knicks are talking to Minnesota about a trade. "I just want to play. Like I said, it's not up to me," he said. "My job is to be a professional about it, no matter where I'm at. If they decide to do it, I'll go there. I feel like I'm prepared but we'll have to see."

Derrick Rose says he hasn't been in touch with his agent, B.J. Armstrong, to talk about trade rumors. He said he doesn't want to drive himself crazy.

Derrick Rose says he's prepared for anything that happens at the deadline but isn't thinking about possibly being traded. "I'm just waiting," he said.

Derrick Rose is also here at Knicks shootaround.

Here at Knicks shootaround and Courtney Lee and Brandon Jennings are on the court, shooting around.

The Clippers had recently shown interest in Knicks SG Courtney Lee but one team that had been in touch with the Knicks didn't get the impression that Lee would be moved. Another team in contact with NYK said the club is looking for a first-round pick - just like every other team - and had discussed packaging Kyle O'Quinn and Brandon Jennings together in a deal.

The Timberwolves and Knicks, by the way, remain in active discussions for a possible Derrick Rose deal, according to sources.

In talks with Minnesota on a potential Derrick Rose deal, the Knicks had been seeking multiple players or a player and a draft pick in return, sources said. Point guard Ricky Rubio is the obvious candidate because he and Rose could be traded in a one-for-one deal. The organization has also held Rubio in high regard for some time. It be interesting to see if Knicks pull back on their insistence for a multiple-player or player-and-a-pick return as the 3 pm deadline approaches.

Nets' and Wizards' trade of Bojan Bogdanovic and Chris McCullough for Andrew Nicholson, guard Marcus Thornton and 2017 protected first round draft pick officially goes through. Wizards add much-needed bench scoring and unload Nicholson's salary. Nets gain a first-round pick and veteran stretch scoring forward in Nicholson. "Bojan is a very good shooter and a talented overall scorer whose versatility gives us an added dimension as we gear up for the stretch run," said Washington president Ernie Grunfeld. "He is a proven starter that will provide us an added boost off the bench and allow us to be creative with our lineups."
