Jets lead the way in 'race' for No. 1 pick

If the Jets are tanking, they're doing a great job so far. FPI gives Gang Green 40 percent odds to claim the top pick in April's draft. The 49ers are next with odds around half that, with the Colts and Bears close behind. Meanwhile, the Browns are a relative long shot, compared to recent seasons.

Michael Beasley says he's looking forward to playing with Carmelo Anthony and believes the Knicks have enough talent to make the playoffs as a No. 5 or No. 6 seed in the East. "If Tim Hardaway Jr., Carmelo Anthony, Kristaps Porzingis and myself (are on the roster) – those are four guys that can score 25 points per game....I think we've got a position to be not only a playoff team but a five, six seed team if we do it right." New York has missed the playoffs for three consecutive seasons. Beasley may not get his wish to play with Anthony for long. Both Anthony and the Knicks would like to find a suitable trade partner for the veteran forward.

Jarrett Jack says he's talked to Knicks coach Jeff Hornacek about a number of topics during informal workouts at the Knicks training facility, including a transition to new offense for the Knicks. Jack was asked if there have been any principles of the triangle offense - which the Knicks ran last season under Phil Jackson - in Hornacek's new offense. "If there are he hasn't implemented them yet," Jack said. "So far it's a lot, (a) much more fast-paced style offense. Moving, cutting. A lot more ball movement. But from what I understand that's going to be the crux of it right now."

It's early, but playoff picture looks bleak for Giants

The Giants' playoff hopes don't look promising after losing their first two games of the year to the Cowboys and Lions. New York has been outscored 43-13 so far this season. That's the fewest points for the Giants through two games since 1947, when they scored seven.

Seth Walder ESPN Analytics

After last night's loss to the Lions, the Giants are projected to win 6.2 games and have just a 7% chance to reach the postseason, according to FPI.
