3. Hiring Isiah Thomas

In December 2003, the Knicks fired Scott Layden as team president and hired Isiah Thomas to replace him. There was much excitement about the move initially -- Thomas made some excellent draft choices when he ran the Toronto Raptors, including picking Tracy McGrady.
