6. Hiring Larry Brown

In July 2005, the Knicks brought in legendary coach Larry Brown to captain the ship. Brown received a five-year, $50 million contract -- but lasted only one bizarre 23-59 season in New York. Brown was unhappy with the roster, clashed with Isiah about it and was eventually dismissed -- receiving $18.5 million in his contract buyout. So, $28.5 million -- not bad for one season of work.
