NEW YORK -- Rutgers associate head basketball coach David Cox has been relieved of his duties, the school announced on Friday.
"David is a good man and a good coach," head coach Eddie Jordan said in a statement. "We wish him nothing but the best moving forward."
Rutgers wrapped up its 2013-14 season, its first under Jordan, with an embarrassing 92-31 loss to Louisville on Thursday in the American Athletic Conference tournament quarterfinals. The Scarlet Knights finished 12-21 overall and 5-13 in the AAC.
This will be Rutgers' one and only season in the AAC. Next season the Scarlet Knights will compete in the Big Ten.
"We are very busy assessing the program, head to toe, starting with me," Jordan said. "This will be an ongoing process as we prepare for Big Ten membership."
This was Cox's fourth season at Rutgers. He was originally hired by Mike Rice, and served as interim head coach when Rice was fired last April.
