Brandon Lyon, Mets reach deal

The New York Mets on Friday signed reliever Brandon Lyon to a one-year, $750,000 contract. He can earn an additional $1.65 million in performance bonuses.

Lyon is the latest in a flurry of late signings to bolster the team's bullpen.

Mets general manager Sandy Alderson had previously confirmed the Mets' interest in the right-hander when he said that Lyon and free agent Michael Bourn are essentially the only two players the Mets could add before spring training.

The Mets also recently have added veteran right-handers Scott Atchison and LaTroy Hawkins and left-hander Pedro Feliciano to minor league contracts.

Lyon, 33, went a combined 4-2 with a 3.10 ERA in 67 relief appearances last season with the Houston Astros and Toronto Blue Jays.
