Foot keeps Jets' Calvin Pace sidelined

Buffalo -- Outside linebacker Calvin Pace, who had been hoping to make his 2010 debut Sunday against the Buffalo Bills, didn't travel with the New York Jets and was ruled out for the game.

Pace, who underwent surgery to repair a broken foot after the third preseason game, hasn't participated in a full practice. He was limited Friday, a strong indication that he wasn't ready to play.

Barring a setback, Pace should return for the Jets' next game, next Monday night against the Minnesota Vikings.

Pace's absence, coupled with an injury to Jamaal Westerman, leaves the Jets with only two healthy players at outside linebacker -- starters Jason Taylor, who last week played with an elbow injury, and Bryan Thomas.

Defensive end Vernon Gholston, a converted linebacker, figures to see time in a backup role at his old position.
