Jets cancel Hofstra practice

Due to a rainy weather forecast, the New York Jets canceled Thursday night's practice at Hofstra University, their former home on Long Island.

The Jets will have a Hofstra practice in 2012, but there will be no make-up date this summer, according to the team.

Hofstra was the Jets' home for four decades, dating to the Joe Namath era, but they moved to a new facility in Florham Park, N.J., in 2008. As a good-will gesture to their Long Island fan base, they return to Hofstra for one training camp practice each summer.

The Jets will practice Thursday, but it will be a closed session in Florham Park, their final practice before Saturday night's preseason game against the New York Giants.
