Von Miller fined for Mark Sanchez hit

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Denver Broncos rookie linebacker Von Miller was fined $25,000 for his vicious hit on New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez late in the fourth quarter of Denver's 17-13 victory over New York last Thursday night, the NFL announced Friday.

With 38 seconds remaining, Miller came off the left edge, blew by right tackle Wayne Hunter and drilled Sanchez in the chest with his helmet as he was sacking the 25-year-old signal-caller.

This is the second time Miller has been fined for roughing the passer.

He was also docked $15,000 for hitting Oakland Raiders quarterback Carson Palmer in the chest earlier this season.

Miller, who was selected second overall by the Broncos in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft, has enjoyed a Pro Bowl caliber year. He currently has 48 tackles, 9½ sacks and three forced fumbles.
