Calvin Pace to appeal $15K fine

New York Jets linebacker Calvin Pace had a feeling he was going to be fined for his roughing-the-passer penalty on Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick on last Sunday, and he was right.

Pace was fined $15,000. He said he plans to appeal. Asked for the specific infraction, Pace said he didn't read the letter from the league.

"I saw $15,000 and threw it in the trash," he said.

Pace slammed into Vick as he threw a 26-yard touchdown to Brent Celek in the Eagles' 45-19 victory, and was called for a 15-yard penalty.

Jets coach Rex Ryan wouldn't comment on the fine, saying only that he's "not the expert there."

Pace, in his fourth season with the Jets, is third on the team with 81 tackles and has 4½ sacks.
