Marian Gaborik, Michael Del Zotto out

The New York Rangers were without Marian Gaborik and Michael Del Zotto when they took on Tampa Bay on Thursday night at Madison Square Garden.

Gaborik is nursing a sore groin and Del Zotto had the flu.

In their place was 23-year-old Mats Zuccarello, called up from the AHL Whale, and defenseman Matt Gilroy.

Zuccarello has recorded 11 goals and 11 assists in his last 20 games for the Whale.

Gilroy had been a scratch in four straight games, and eight of the Rangers' past 10.

Coach John Tortorella didn't think Gaborik's groin injury was serious, and hoped to get Zuccarello, who was playing in his first NHL game, into some offensive situations.

"I have not formulated any plan [regarding Zuccarello], this all just happened right before practice, so I have to figure out where to put [Zuccarello]," the coach said Wednesday. "As the game goes on, I have to figure that out."
