The Rangers announced Tuesday that Skapski had surgery to repair a labral tear in his right hip.
The 20-year-old Skapski appeared in two games with the Rangers in 2014-15, posting a 2-0-0 record. He earned his first career NHL win while making his league debut on Feb. 20 at Buffalo, becoming the third-youngest goaltender in franchise history to record a win in his debut.
Skapski also posted his first career NHL shutout while making his second career start on March 14 at Buffalo.
He appeared in 28 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack of the AHL last season, posting a 15-8-3 record and a 2.40 goals-against average.
