Burns, girlfriend okay after accident

CARDIFF, Wales -- World Rally title contender Richard
Burns gave his girlfriend more action than she bargained
for at the weekend when he took her for a spin in his car and
rolled it.

A Subaru team spokesman said Burns, who had completed two
days of testing in south Wales, overturned the test car on
Saturday morning at the start of a promotional day for friends
and sponsors.

"He had taken his girlfriend Zoe out in the car for the
first run of the day and he rolled it. It put an end to the
day," the spokesman said.

Nobody was hurt in the accident and the car was not one to
be used in the rally.

Burns has won in Britain for the last three years and is
two points behind championship leader and fellow-Briton Colin
McRae in the overall standings. Either can take the title by
winning their home event.

The Subaru spokesman said that the last time Burns rolled
his car on the eve of the British rally was in 1998 when he
went on to win for Mitsubishi.
