Tigers recover from loss to Iowa State

SAN DIEGO (AP) -- Lakeisha Johnson scored 14 points and Carol
Smith added 11 as Auburn (No. 20 ESPN/USA Today, No. 19 AP) rebounded from its first loss with
a 73-50 victory over Texas-San Antonio in the consolation game of
the Surf-N-Slam Hoop Classic on Sunday night.

The Tigers (12-1), coming off an 80-75 overtime loss to No. 5
Iowa State Friday, had little trouble handling outmatched
Texas-San Antonio (3-7).

Kim Reed shot 5-for-6 from 3-point range and scored 18 points for
Texas-San Antonio (3-7). Lacy Mingee added 15 points.

Despite starting the game hitting just one of their first 13
shots, the Roadrunners trailed by just 11 with 4:48 left in the
first half. But Auburn went on a 15-5 run to close the half and
take a 37-16 halftime lead.

Johnson hit two shots in the decisive run, including a jumper
with 5.7 seconds left.

The Tigers shot 47.5 percent (28-for-59) from the floor and made
15 of 18 free throws. Auburn also held a 41-27 rebounding edge.
