Rules - HTML Draft

For owners who are not sure if their computers can use Java, we have an HTML method for live drafting. The advantage of using the HTML method is that it doesn't require so much of your system's memory as the Java applet does. The disadvantage of it is in order to stay up with the current picks, you must continuously refresh the Warroom page.

Many past live draft owners say that in order to maximize the information displayed it is best to use the Java applet and the HTML Warroom simultaneously. This way you can see the rosters fill in with all the players -- and look at their stats -- through the Warroom, while using the Java applet to sort and select players.

The Warroom page
This is the central page for the HTML live draft. It lets you know what round it is, whose pick it is, what players have already been drafted, everyone's current rosters, and how much time is left for the next team to pick. It also has links to the player pools, so you can submit your next pick - either when it is your turn, or ahead of time if you already know who you want.

  • The player pools are linked in the top left corner of the table at the top of the page. The pools are designated "Pitcher | C | 1B | 2B | 3B | SS | OF. The letters link to the appropriate positions.

  • At the upper right of the page, there is a link to a Chat room. It is a targeted link, meaning it will open up a second browser window, while leaving the first window on the Warroom page.

  • On the main part of the page, the rosters are listed. Players are filled into positions in a pre-determined order - owners can NOT move a player to a different position until the draft is over. A red arrow on the left indicates whose pick is next, and which way the draft is going.

The Warroom page does not auto-refresh. We recommend hitting reload on the page once every minute, to make sure you keep up to date with the latest draft picks made.

Using HTML to make picks
To make a pick using the HTML, click on the appropriate player pool for the player you wish to draft, and select that player from the list. Then click the button at the bottom of the page that reads "Draft Player". If the pick is made before it is your turn, it will be executed as soon as it is your turn, unless the player is taken by another team. In that case, you must select a different player.

Player Pools
The player pools are modeled off the in-season player pool pages. They are a list of players with radio buttons on the left. To add a player, click on the radio button by his name, and then click on the submit button on the bottom of the page. This will add the player if it is your turn to pick. If it is not yet your turn, it will be a pending draft pick, meaning you will select him automatically at your turn when your time runs out unless he has been drafted by another team. Owners can have more than one pending draft pick at a time - they are prioritized in the order they are made. Owners can delete a pending draft pick if it is not their turn to pick.

Owners can chat with each other during the draft if they wish. It's a fun place to hang out at between picks, and you can also keep up to date with any picks because a System message is posted any time a player is selected.
