The outlook is bleak as the 1-6 Giants enter their bye week.

Just think, only two teams have a worse record than the Giants (1-6) right now. Only the two winless teams — San Francisco and Cleveland — are worse. The Giants are in the running for Saquon Barkley or a top QB. Either would fit well for the future of the franchise.

Several Jets players said they were disappointed with the field condition at Hard Rock Stadium, which hosted a college game on Saturday. "Pretty bad," Jermaine Kearse said. Jordan Jenkins said he tweaked an ankle because of the chewed-up grass. "It sucked," he said, quickly adding, "But it sucked for both teams."

At 3-4, the Jets are a playoff long shot, but they weren't expected to be in contention. Their definition of "hope" is different than other teams; they can derive hope in seeing the development of young players, namely rookie safeties Jamal Adams and Marcus Maye and second-year linebacker Darron Lee. That's how the season should be judged -- the progress of their young talent base.

DRC said his lack of playing time was the fallout from his discipline the previous week. He accepted it.

Jets WR Robby Anderson threw his helmet and was penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct with eight seconds left in the game. Anderson: "I was just frustrated, you know. I'm very passionate about this and I love this game. It hurts losing, especially when you're up on division games. Losing hurts, period." Coach Todd Bowles went soft on Anderson, saying he didn't see the play.

Even on bad teams, fantasy value can be found. Evan Engram now has 53 targets, which is the most that any rookie tight end has had through seven team games since 1992 (the earliest season for which target data is available).

Eli Manning said Giants would have to hit on more plays in the passing game eventually. It came back to bite them vs. Seahawks. Couldn't do it. They had 178 yards total and 134 yards passing in Sunday's 24-7 loss.

Jets QB Josh McCown on his last-minute interception: "They rotated coverage. I went backside where the read takes me and the guy was underneath the zone. I just didn't get enough on it to give Jermaine (Kearse) a chance and it's just a bad read on my part." McCown called it "a sick feeling."

Missed opportunity for Giants. Rosas pushes 47-yard FG. That would have tied the game despite being dominated. Costly penalty by Bobby Hart.
