Doc Rivers said he doesn't foresee KG accepting a coaching job this season: "I don't think he wants to coach. He's not that crazy. Who would ever want to do that? ... There's no way that's going to happen. I think he has a teaching future. This [situation] is as organic as it could be. I just told him to come around and figure it out. Do whatever you want. Whatever he does, I'm good with, because I do think he can have a very positive impact on us."

Doc Rivers on Kevin Garnett's presence at Clippers training camp: "KG was phenomenal today. This morning, before practice, he had a teaching clinic that you would pay a lot of money to see. It was great. It was great for Blake [Griffin] and [DeAndre Jordan] and the young guys as well. It's great to have him around. He's a great teacher. We know him as a great player. I knew him as a great teacher. He'll be really good for us."

The Yankees gave David Ortiz two gifts. David Cone and Jacoby Ellsbury presented Ortiz a leatherbound book with well-wishes letters from Yankees. Second, Mariano Rivera unveiled an oil painting with Ortiz standing at home plate tipping his cap to the fans. They played "Sweet Caroline" to close out the ceremony.

PA announcer Paul Olden just said, "The Yankees would like to put the rivalry" aside to honor Big Papi. When Ortiz was introduced with his family, there were mostly cheers.

Judging by the sheer number of David Ortiz jerseys outside Yankee Stadium tonight -- including fans wearing both Yankees AND Red Sox apparel, Big Papi probably can expect a warm reception on the occasion of his final game in the Bronx. We asked a few fans -- those wearing Yankees gear only for this exercise -- whether they plan to cheer or boo him and why. Believe it or not, despite the bitter rivalry, almost all the answers we got were family friendly.

In addition to playing at a quicker pace, the Knicks may use more pick and roll this season. Derrick Rose confirmed that they've been running pick 'a lot' of pick-and-roll thus far in training camp. It seems like this will emerge mostly early in the offense. The club will use the triangle in half court.

Good sign for team chemistry? Jeff Horancek and the Knicks wrapped up lunch yesterday at 1 pm and "the guys were still sitting there, talking to eachother until 2:30, a quarter to 3. We had to turnaround at 4:30 and have another praictce. So I think these guys really like each other."

Ian Begley ESPN Staff Writer

Late in close games, Derrick Rose expects the Knicks to use a pick-and-roll to get a shot. "I don't think it's going to be the triangle. I think it's probably going to be 1-3 pick-and-roll or 3-1 pick-and-roll. Either me or Melo will have to create for someone to take the shot."

Ian Begley ESPN Staff Writer

Derrick Rose said the triangle offense feels ‘foreign' thus far, but he's optimistic about it. "It's like 40 to 50 options on one side of the floor. It's like giving you your space for creativity. It's like if you're doing it the right way, you could do everything you want."

Eli Manning's unadjusted QBR of 72 suggests that he has been one of the 10 most-efficient quarterbacks in the NFL this season. But Manning has faced by far the easiest set of QBR defenses (at Cowboys, against the Saints and against the Redskins). After the opponent adjustment, Manning's Total QBR falls about 11 points, and he currently ranks 15th in adjusted Total QBR.
