Kyle O'Quinn has opted out of his $4.8 million contract, per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowksi. If Enes Kanter picks up his $18.6 million player option, the Knicks will not have significant cap space to spend in free agency this summer. New York open to bringing O'Quinn back on a short-term contract, per sources, but the club is unlikely to offer O'Quinn a contract that would significantly compromise its cap space in 2019.

Giancarlo Stanton's fourth career walk-off homer, hit Wednesday night, was his first in pinstripes. It also capped the Yankees' MLB-leading 23rd win when trailing at any point in a game this season. Down 5-0 entering the fifth, this marks the largest deficit they've overcome to win a game this season. The Yankees beat the Mariners, 7-5.

On the Yankees broadcast, Michael Kay points out that Giancarlo Stanton is still waiting for his signature Yankees moment. Two pitches later, he drills on 0-2 slider from Ryan Cook for a two-run, walk-off home run as the Yankees rally from a 5-0 deficit for their biggest comeback win of the year. Maybe Stanton is finally a True Yankees (c).

Several agents are under the impression that the Knicks are strongly opposed to signing free agents to multi-year contracts this summer in order to preserve cap space for 2019, so maybe NYK offers O'Quinn a raise on a one-year deal?

Kyle O'Quinn declining his $4.25M contract will only impact the Knicks cap space this offseason if Enes Kanter decides to decline his $18.6M option. If Kanter returns, New York will be right at the cap. New York will have the $8.6M non tax midlevel and $3.4M biannual exception.

Members of the Knicks organization met in-person with Texas big man Mohamed Bamba in New York today, team sources told ESPN. The meeting is an indication that the Knicks are considering trading up. They currently have the No. 9 pick. Bamba is projected as the fifth pick in ESPN's latest mock draft.

The NHL is still getting a handle on legalized sports wagering. In particular, the league has set guidelines for how its teams can accept advertising from sports gambling companies. "In the short term, clubs will be able to take on generic advertising. No tie-ins, but generic advertising," said commissioner Gary Bettman. That doesn't apply to teams that play in states which have active legal sports wagering. The New Jersey Devils, for example, could partner with Monmouth Park's sportsbook in a co-branding effort, and the NHL would be fine with it.

Some changes to the Giants front office. Most notable are assistant GM Kevin Abrams adding VP of football operations title and Chris Pettit becoming director of college scouting. Both have been top lieutenants for new GM Dave Gettleman.

Brett Gardner, who is out of today's lineup, says his sore knee is feeling better and that he's going through full pregame activities today. Took 40 swings in the cage yesterday, too. He will be available to pinch hit in the game if needed. He actually thought he'd be able to start tonight, but will take more time off.
