Knicks notch another comeback

Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 26 points for the Knicks on Wednesday as they overcame a 12-point deficit to beat the Jazz. It was the fifth time this season that New York erased a double-digit deficit to win a game, tying the Pistons for the most victories of that kind in the NBA. (Elias Sports Bureau)

In a bit of a surprise, Jose Altuve was the landslide winner over Aaron Judge in the AL MVP voting, collecting 27 of 30 first-place votes. He becomes the second MVP in Astros history, joining Jeff Bagwell, and he did it on the strength of his all-around brilliance and season-long consistency. He won his third batting title, reached 200 hits for the fourth season in a row, stole 32 bases and played solid defense at a premium position. Not bad for a guy who was told to go home after the first day of a tryout camp when he was 16 years old. He came back the next day anyway. Now he's the MVP.

Andrew Marchand ESPN Senior Writer

The Yankees interviewed Giants' bench coach Hensley Meulens for their managerial job today. He was a former top prospect in their organization and has earned a strong reputation as a hitting coach.
