In its "Last Two Minute Report" for Monday's games, the NBA said that referees made the correct decision by not calling a foul on Atlanta's Paul Millsap when he contested Derrick Rose's lay-up attempt on the Knicks' final possession. Rose missed the layup, Carmelo Anthony missed the follow up attempt and Joakim Noah missed a tip in. The Knicks lost, 108-107.

According to an NHL source, the New York Islanders have received permission from the Florida Panthers to talk to coach Gerard Gallant. Gallant was fired by the Panthers in November and has two years after this season left on his contract. He was a Jack Adams finalist last season after guiding the Panthers to a 103-point season.
