The Mets have several veteran hitters (Jay Bruce, Curtis Granderson, Asdrubal Cabrera and Lucas Duda) attracting varying degrees of interest as the trade deadline approaches. But closer Addison Reed is generating the widest range of inquiries and is the Mets player most likely to be moved by July 31, sources say. New York Knicks Director of Pro Player Personnel Mark Hughes has interviewed for the Milwaukee Bucks' assistant general manager opening, per league sources. Hughes, a veteran executive with the Knicks organization since 2007, also interviewed for the Atlanta Hawks GM position earlier in the offseason. He has been one of the key figures in the Knicks' recent draft success, which includes Kristaps Porzingis, Willy Hernangomez, the recently re-signed Tim Hardaway Jr., Channing Frye and Danilo Gallinari. The Knicks, of course, have made some poor picks in that span but have been largely successful in the draft. New president Steve Mills and GM Scott Perry recently discussed the possibility of making changes in the Knicks front office but Hughes is not believed to be among the personnel changes being considered as he is highly regarded internally by New York. Bucks GM Jon Horst is currently filling positions in his front office. Hughes is no stranger to the Midwest. As a player, Hughes was a co-captain of the 1989 National Championship team at Michigan and has coaching experience as an NBA assistant and CBA head coach.
