Brooklyn is now $3.5M (or at the cap when you factor in the $3M Randy Foye hold) under the salary cap after the acquisition of Allen Crabbe. The contract of Crabbe is $19.3M, $18.5M and a player option of $18.5M in 2019-20. The Nets still project to have $18M in room next summer and could increase to $30M if Jeremy Lin opts-out of his $12.5M contract.

The Judge returns to Bronx bench

Tuesday is the first home game for the Yankees and Aaron Judge since the slugger won the Home Run Derby on July 10. Judge's 21 homers in 42 home games puts him on pace to break Hank Greenberg's single-season MLB record for most home runs at home (39).

In four days, Jets teammates Matt Forte and Demario Davis will face each other in training-camp drills -- running back vs. linebacker. Today, they squared off on the tennis court -- a charity event at the site of the upcoming U.S. Open. Here, Davis serves to Forte, who smacks a forehand winner. The tennis wasn't sharp, but it was all in fun ... and for a good cause.

Jets RB Matt Forte, speaking to reporters at a charity event at the Billie Jean King USTA National Tennis Center, scoffed at the dire predictions for the team. "Everybody is saying tanking and all that stuff. A lot of people are jumping ship before the season even starts, but I welcome that," he said. "All y'all can jump ship if you want to. It shows you were never on board in the first place." Forte beat teammate Demario Davis, 6-love, in a tennis match for charity.

When asked on what team A's starter Sonny Gray will be on a week from today, an MLB executive said, "Not Oakland." Will he be in the Bronx? The A's continue to send top scouts to the Yankees' Double-A affiliate in Trenton. The way the A's Billy Beane usually works is he tells teams who he is looking for as the central figure in a trade and then works his way down from there. Since there is not much pitching on the market, Beane is aiming high. Gray has two years of control so he is expected to cost teams prime prospects. The Yankees are very deep at shortstop. At Double-A, Jorge Mateo has played very well recently.

Mets callup Chris Flexen, scheduled to start Thursday, has had a bump up in velocity this year to 92-95 and will show four pitches including an above-average changeup. Unranked to start the year, he's become one of the system's top starting pitching prospects with his newfound stuff.

After Phil Jackson was fired, the Knicks had minimal contact with free agent Derrick Rose, who agreed to a deal with the Cavs today.
