Really surprised Charlie McAvoy of the Boston Bruins didn't grab a Calder Trophy nomination for rookie of the year. New York Islanders center Mathew Barzal, Vancouver Canucks right wing Brock Boeser and Arizona Coyotes center Clayton Keller are your finalists. McAvoy skated 22:09 per game and had 32 points in 63 games. Sure, his season was limited by injury, but he appeared in one fewer game than Selke nominee Patrice Bergeron and one more game than Boeser. Snubbed, for sure.

Jets daily draft nugget: Everybody knows they need pass-rushing help, but it'll be tough to find one. They have no picks in the second round and the overall depth in this draft class is "terrible," according to ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. He said LSU OLB Arden Key, once considered a first-round prospect, is worth "a roll of the dice in the third round." The Jets have the eighth pick in the third round (72 overall).

After finishing last in the Eastern Conference last season, the Devils were back in the playoffs this year. Here's how they boost their upward trajectory.

When the Yankees placed reliever Adam Warren on the 10-day DL Saturday, they did so with the understanding he'll be shut down that entire length of time. Aaron Boone said the mild right back strain will shelve Warren longer than those 10 days. Warren said this was more an issue of discomfort rather than a pain issue. He felt it during his past couple appearances, but figured he could play through it. Could feel it a little more Friday night while throwing his off-speed pitches.

"He's clearly, to me, one of the best players in the league. I talk about him winning pitches all the time. He wins so many pitches over the course of the game up there. You better execute when you're facing him or you're in trouble." —Aaron Boone on Yankees slugger Aaron Judge
