Booker wins 3-point title; Dinwiddie tops in skills

Suns guard Devin Booker captured the 3-point contest in record fashion Saturday night, missing only five of 25 shots in the final round en route to 28 points. Earlier, Brooklyn's Spencer Dinwiddie kicked things off by winning the skills challenge.

Hotshot prospect Gleyber Torres has been in camp for the Yankees and at 100 percent after Tommy John surgery last year on his non-throwing elbow. "He's full go. No restrictions," Aaron Boone said Saturday. Keith Law's No. 5 overall prospect, Torres has a chance to make the team as the starting second baseman after hitting .287/.383/.480 in 55 games in the minors. Boone said he'll get some time at third base and shortstop: "That's part of the plan, especially early in camp."

Yankees lefty Jordan Montgomery rode the subway to Yankee Stadium as a rookie last season -- even after a mishap soon after getting called up when he got off at the wrong stop. He said he did get recognized a few times by the end of the season, but for now plans on taking it again this season -- although admitted he does have the Uber app on his phone. I asked him if Giancarlo Stanton should take the subway. "No, you won't see him on there one time," he laughed.

Yankees prospect Thairo Estrada was in the hospital and got a check-up and had surgery; stayed in the hospital three days after being shot in the hip in an attempted robbery in Venezuela. Estrada says that he was attacked by two young men, about 15-16 years-old. They asked for money and his cellphone. Estrada said he doesn't know who they were or whether they knew that he was a ballplayer. He was with his wife; she was not hurt.
