BREAKING: Source tells ESPN that Steven Matz imminently will have surgery to remove the bone spur in his pitching elbow. No shoulder surgery will be required, although the impingement remains an issue. The Mets have estimated a three-month recovery time for the elbow surgery. Matz has not pitched since Aug. 14.

There are no specifics yet, but it appears Steven Matz is done for the season. We're waiting for more information on whether he will simply have the bone spur in his pitching out now, or if the shoulder impingement that recently hindered him needs to be addressed as well.
